background story to
naturum Vänerskärgården – Victoriahuset
After the initial architectural competition, Mattias Lind and Ulla Antonsson from White Architects in Gothenburg began the exciting work of drawing a new buildning in harmony with Läckö Castle and the unique archipelago. An exciting structure grew up, inspired by Lake Vänern’s water groves and driftwood.
The content-rich exhibition has been produced by the Läckö Castle Foundation with Kicki Rask as project manager. Together with White Architects, the design of the exhibition was developed. Scripts and texts were produced by Vänermuseet in Lidköping.
In the geografical center of Lake Vänern and right next to Läckö Castle now stands this Visitor Center, a symbolic gift to Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria on her 30th birthday. The Crown Princess is also protector of naturum Vänerskärgården – Victoriahuset.
It is a natural, enjoyable and beautiful meeting place for everyone, as well as Sweden’s first naturum that offers accommodation.
