Description
In the Arthropoda exhibition, we see close-ups of Swedish bugs, giving us access to a world that all too often goes undetected by the naked eye.
By studying the bugs in detail, we see the intricate variety of shapes, colours and textures that these little creatures carry. The close-up images are not only a visual experience but also allow us to form a personal connection with these tiny creatures. In this way, we gain an understanding of the crucial role of bugs in the ecosystem and become aware of their vulnerability.
John Hallmén is a macro photographer with a speciality in Swedish bugs. With his images, he wants to challenge our perceptions of Swedish fauna by focusing on the small animals that have fascinated him since childhood. He made his debut in 2012 with the book Creep and was awarded Nature Photographer of the Year by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency the same year. Since then, he has also published the children's books Minimonster i naturen and the sequel Livet som minimonster.
