At the naturum Vänerskärgården – Victoriahuset there are masses of things for children to do. Study bugs under a magnifier (or why not you own thumb?), scoop up minnows or draw a map of the future.

Lake Vänern

In the middle of Lake Vänern, furthest south in the pearl necklace of island which make up the Lurö Archipelago Nature Reserve, lies Lurö, about one hour’s boat ride from Värmlandsnäs in the north or Kållandsö in the south. Man has found his way here from time immemorial. Some came to live and till the fertile land, to sell their fish or to provide lodging for pilgrims in the shelters belonging to the monks, and later on in Lurö’s Inn. In Luringen’s Guest House the tradition of hospitality continues.

Djurö Archipelago represents Swedish scenery and the natural features of one of Europe’s largest lake. The seclusion is one of the major fascinations. Few archipelagos in the country are as isolated as this beautiful island group in the middle of Vänern. To get there you must travel at least eight kilometers over open water. In 1991 it was designated a National Park.

Join us on a guided boat trip to Lurö or Djurö. Or follow Navens kajak on a kayak adventure, a two hour excursion with guide. We also offer family paddling in stabile canoes to Stora Eken, for exciting expeditions in the shoreline, the forest and the skerries. Of course, you can also rent a kayak and paddle out on your own.
