Läckö Castle is located on Kållandsö in Lidköping municipality in Västergötland. The castle is located on a headland in the Ekens Archipelago in Lake Vänern and is a reminder of Sweden's time of great power. During the Middle Ages, the castle belonged to the Scarab bishops, but was transferred to the crown in 1527. In 1618, it was granted to Jacob De la Gardie, together with the associated counties.

Exhibitions of the year
This summer, Läckö is filled with four unique exhibitions that in different ways tell about place, crafts and history. At the castle we meet Rörstrand 300 years - treasures from the Nationalmuseum collections, a colourful journey through three centuries of Swedish design and ceramics history. A journey of discovery among known and unknown designers and where some objects are shown for the first time in public.
I Time is of the essence by Yvonne Nimar, we step straight into the castle's own rooms and layers of history. Time, resistance and possibilities are united in a rhythm between stillness and movement.
The exhibition The voices of the factory from Rörstrand Museum highlights the people behind the porcelain, where former factory workers themselves get to speak through stories and voices from everyday life in Lidköping.
In the naturum you can see resilience by Cecilia Netterberg, who uses the brush, the camera and sculptures to focus on medicinal herbs and their life cycles.
Summer Opera 2026
Fidelio
In the summer of 2026, the courtyard will be transformed into a prison.
Fidelio is Beethoven's only opera. A rescue opera, its plot is said to be based on a real event from the French Revolution.

Läckö Castle stands on a cliff beside Lake Vänern, enticing you with its Baroque splendour, sensuous gardens, shining treasures and ancient medieval vaults. Läckö Castle, best known as the fabulous De la Gardie Castle on the shores of Lake Vänern, has medieval origins.

In our exhibition you can learn more about Lake Vänern and the archipelago around it. Here you can watch, read about and even listen to the inhabitants of Lake Vänern as they tell little stories from their everyday lives.
