Djurö National Park
Djurö archipelago is located in the middle of Sweden's largest lake, Vänern. The national park consists of some thirty islands and skerries. The nature is described as a relatively untouched inland archipelago. Here, the inland coniferous forest landscape with the scent of water hemlock is just a few kilometres from the rocky shores of Vänern with gnarled pines and brilliant torch flowers.

A unique accommodation in the middle of nature
Staying overnight on Djurö is an experience beyond the ordinary. Here you live in the middle of a national park, far away from the noise of the cities and in full proximity to silence, starry skies and the expanse of Lake Vänern. This also means a special responsibility. When you stay here, you do so on nature's terms - and you are a guest in a protected landscape that bears traces of wildlife, vegetation and history. Be considerate, move carefully and help us preserve the unique character of this place for the future.

About Djurö National Park
Djurö National Park was established in 1991 with the aim of preserving an archipelago landscape in Lake Vänern in an essentially unchanged state. The main island, Djurö, is just over 150 hectares in size and is surrounded by some twenty smaller islands and skerries. The national park is known for its well-connected, unspoilt nature and its attractive natural harbours, which attract boat-borne visitors during the summer.
The birdlife is rich: ospreys, guillemots, skuas, grey gulls, terns and several wading birds nest here. Fallow deer and hares are found on the island, as well as bats, water voles and amphibians.
The landscape offers rocky areas with lingonberry, bilberry and heather, dense pine forests and meadows. The geology is dramatic, with fissure valleys, silty gravel, shingle and elements of limestone that affect the vegetation.
Djurö also has a cultural history. The lighthouse in the north has been an important sea mark since the end of the 19th century, and in previous centuries fishing families lived here in small communities. Today, it is the tranquillity, the wilderness and the old paths that carry the story forward.
