Autumn holiday activities on Läckö

Thursday - Sunday we have lots of activities for children around the castle and nature centre.
Go on a family guided tour, lantern walk in the forest or listen to ghost stories!

Welcome to celebrate the autumn holidays at Läckö Castle and Naturum Vänerskärgården, a week filled with discoveries, history and taste experiences for the whole family! Fun activities await the children both in the castle and in the nature centre, with adventures that attract curiosity and community. Further down on this page you will see all our activities for the days, book a place at the links.

When you're running low on energy, it's easy to top up with something tasty. Freshly baked waffles with jam and cream are served in the naturum, an autumn holiday favourite that makes the day complete. The restaurant is open as usual Friday to Sunday and offers both lunch and dinner with ingredients from the castle garden and the surrounding area.

11.00 and 15.00 The hunt for the witch's wand

Location: The castle
Age: 5+
Time required: 30 min
Price: 50 kr/child
The princess is ill and the castle witch must help her. But she can't find her magic wand. Help find the wand. A fast-paced "treasure hunt" where clues show the way.

11:45 Ghost stories for the youngest

Location: The castle
Age: 2-4 years
Time required: 20 min
Price: 20kr
Hear about friendly ghosts and scary princesses in a story time for the youngest in the Count's Library. Dress warmly. It can be cold in the castle.

13:30 Become a Knight of Läckö

Location: The castle
Age: 5+ years
Time required: 45 min
Price: 50kr
Test your strength in the Läckö tower game. Do you have what it takes to become the Knight of Läckö? Try your luck through the various challenges and be crowned Knight of Läckö by the Count/ Countess.

16:00 Scary Läckö

Time required: 30 min

Follow the maid/servant to the castle's best hiding places. But be on your guard! The best hiding places are often the darkest and most haunted. Who will you meet as you wander through the catacombs and secret passages?

Join the guide on a tour that will teach you about the creatures, unholy spirits and other nasty things that lurk in the forest, the water and the castle out on Läckö. And who knows? Maybe you'll see something along the way...

13:00 Family guided tour of the castle

Location: The castle
Age: 4-10 years
Time required: 40 min

A walk for the whole family. What was it like to live in the castle a long time ago? What did people eat at the castle in the 17th century? Where did they sleep? Just like in the regular guided tours, you walk with the castle guide and listen to exciting and fun facts. However, the tour during the autumn holidays is adapted for children.

10.00 & 15.30 What do animals do in winter?

Autumn leaves are swirling and darkness is creeping in. What do animals actually do when winter approaches? Do they all pack up and move south? The nature guide shows you the answers together with the children outside the nature centre.

12.00 & 14.00 The thieving magpie

Location: nature centre

The magpie has left a trail... We go on a treasure hunt in the area outside the nature centre. Clues drive the activity. The nature centre guide accompanies us.

11.00 & 13.30 Discover the nature centre with the prince and princess

Location: nature centre
Ages: 2-4
Time required: 10 min
Price: Free of charge

There are lots of animals and plants hiding in the Vänerskärgården nature centre. Some are easier to find than others. The children search for the prince and princess who appear here and there in the exhibition. A nature guide accompanies the children.

THE PRINCE AND PRINCESS ARE CARTOON CHARACTERS. We ask you parents to accompany the children during the activity.

Reflex walk
Start 17.00, 17.30, 18.00, 18.30

Location: nature centre
Time required: 30-40 min
Age: 5-10 years
Price: 50 SEK/child, free for younger ones.

Manx the ship's cat has been hanging out with a band of thieves in the Thieves' Islands. He decides to leave the robbers and bravely swims away. But on which island has he ended up? The animals hiding on the island know the answer. Help Manx find the animals in the dark.

Find a torch and come to the entrance of the naturum at the start time that suits you. 17, 17.30, 18 or 18.30. Take a map and head out under cover of darkness. Of course, a torch is available to borrow if needed.

To do on your own

Price: Free of charge

Create at the naturum
bats or a lantern for All Saints' Day. Tinker and tinker to your heart's content.

Tip walk
Pick up a tip coupon at the reception. The tip walk goes along the nature trail. Choose the level of difficulty, there are adult and child questions.

Barbecue at the nature centre

Between 16-19 on Friday, the barbecue is lit outside the nature centre. Bring your own food to grill before or after you have walked the reflex walk.
