Scalunda Heights
West Sweden's largest burial mound, Skalundahögen, is not alone in Skalunda. There are other remains such as another large mound, judgement rings, menhirs, rune stones and indications that there were once large mounds there that are now gone. Skalunda is therefore interesting, in the same way as Gamla Uppsala in Uppland and Jelling in Denmark. West Swedish Archaeology has been working with the area since 2019 when they started the project - Skalunda in the time of monuments. Many fine finds and interesting traces have come to light. Tonight, Annelie Nitenberg will join us and put the Skalunda mound in its proper context and talk about the investigations, and finds, that have been made.
