The great lion rum adventure

Join us for a unique experience where you can discover the craft behind Vänerlöjrom! In Spiken's fishing harbour, one of Europe's largest inland ports, vendace has been fished for hundreds of years. Tens of tonnes of vendace roe are processed and delivered here every year - and now you have the chance to get really close to the process.

A flavourful and natural experience

The Löjrom adventure starts with a Löjrom-inspired lunch at Restaurant Sjöboden in Spiken's fishing harbour. Then you board a fishing boat for a trip on Lake Vänern, where an experienced fisherman tells you about life on the lake and traditional fishing. Back in the harbour, you'll get an exclusive insight into the craft of preparing vendace roe at Spikudden Rökeri - and you'll get to try your hand at squeezing vendace roe!

After a day full of experiences, check-in awaits at Naturum Victoriahuset. In the evening, a three-course dinner with a lion roe theme is served at our restaurant. The next morning, the stay ends with a guided tour of Läckö Castle.

Good to know:

  • It is possible to keep purchased vendace products cold at the hotel.
  • Bring binoculars - there's a good chance of seeing sea eagles during the boat trip!
  • A minimum of 8 bookings is required for the event to take place.

Day 1
11:30 - Lunch and introduction at Restaurant Sjöboden
13:00 - Group 1: Boat trip with fishing guide. Group 2: Workshop with Marlene Tagesson - try squeezing a lion's roe
14:15 - The groups change places
15:30 - Afternoon coffee & opportunity to buy vendace
Check-in at the hotel
19:00 - Three-course dinner with lion's roe theme at restaurant

Day 2
11:00 - Guided tour of Läckö Castle

Spiken fishing harbour is 5 km from Läckö Castle. Parking is available 100 metres into the harbour area.
